Modesto is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Modesto is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

We came here on a random Tuesday afternoon and had no idea what kind of place this would be. It was a small unassuming place in a strip mall with dark windows and minimal outside decor. Turns out it was a winner for sure. Inside was your basic small bar with only one friendly waitress/ bartender and a couple regulars. The background music was a mix of metal, which was rad. We started with the pork belly appetizer which was cooked really well, lots of places mess this up but they nailed it. Next up was a great burger and one of the best chopped brisket sandwiches I've ever had outside of a bbq joint. Even the fries had a pop of seasoning that wasn't just basic garlic salt. The beer was cold and the cocktails were perfect. I will absolutely come back to this place next time I'm in Modesto.

We live in San Jose but were visiting some friends who came to visit from Mexico and I chose this place. I gotta say the food was delicious πŸ˜‹ we loved the onion rings and garlic fries. The ribs could've used a little more BBQ sauce but other than that food was good. However, we got there and there weren't any waitresses so we sat outside because we were a group of 10. Since it was a weekday, the bartender was also our waitress. Her service was ok but she needs to be a little friendlier, my girl friend wasn't 100% sure what she wanted when the bartender was taking our order and I caught the bartender girl rolling her eyes at my friend because she wasn't ready quick enough. I find that plain disrespectful because I know I would never roll my eyes in front of the customers. Other than that, we loved the food and would come back.

Atmosphere good. Service nice and Amy so sweet. But the food OMG!!! I ordered the β€˜pig pen’ and I chose brisket with the ribs, mac & cheese, and tots. The ribs were tender and the brisket was delish! It took two to eat it. Patrons seem very nice also. One came up to me and talked about the generous portions here. I had to agree with her. If you want some tender ribs the this is the spot.

The food wasn't bad but definitely not something that I would want to come back for. Our server was friendly but she was the only one handling the restaurant. She was running around doing her best to take care of everyone but she could have definitely used help. We waited about an hour for food to arrive so I'm not sure if they were understaffed in the kitchen as well. I ordered the chimichurri salad and the trip-tip was choped in small pieces and tasted dry. My daughter got the loaded fries and they overdid it with the sauce. The brisket on the fries was just ok. My husband had the wedge salad and his tri-tip wasn't even warm. I had the Princess Peach drink and I could taste the sparkling wine but not much peach flavor. A peach ring garnish might help elevate the drink. Probably won't be coming back but it wasn't the worst experience.

Disappointing. I have been wanting to try this place and I don’t think I’ll be back. The service was extremely slow, 3 people took 1.5 hours from sitting down to leaving, and we only ordered a beer and 3 entrees. When we sat down, the table next to us had dirty dishes on it that weren’t cleared off until just before we left. The table on our other side still had dirty dishes from the people that left about 20 minutes into our time there. I ordered the Mac & Cheese as my meal, and it was not at all as described on the menu. It’s supposed to have a beer cheese sauce, but it was SO dry I think they forgot the cheese sauce (see picture)- I’m glad the pulled pork had BBQ sauce in it so I could mix it together. The menu also said it comes with bacon & breadcrumbs, but it came with neither (came out with just the noodles & pork). I let the server know it was missing bacon, which she said it wasn’t supposed to have that in it (despite it listing it on the menu) but she did come back with a cup of bacon. So I’m not sure if it’s an error on the menu, but if it is that needs to be fixed. The positives are the pulled pork is tasty, and the portion size is great (the picture is my leftovers)
